In April 2026 a short parent poll was created to gather community perspectives on technology use in Montgomery Township schools.
The poll was created after observing that some children may have more difficulty focusing on certain types of schoolwork, such as math, when it is completed on a computer rather than on paper. The goal was not to oppose technology, but to better understand how local parents feel about the current balance between digital tools and traditional learning methods.
What is your view on the current level of technology use in our schools?
I prefer less technology use across all grades.
I prefer less technology use in the lower grades, but I’m comfortable with it in the upper grades.
I think the current approach is appropriate and doesn’t need changes.
Other.
As of June 1, 2026, our informal parent poll received 201 responses from MTSD families.
The results show that many families are concerned about the amount of screen-based learning in our schools:
About 62% of respondents prefer less screen-based learning across all grades
About 28% prefer less screen-based learning in the lower grades
About 10% feel the current level is acceptable or do not have enough information to form an opinion
Together, about 90% of respondents expressed a preference for reducing screen-based learning either across all grades or especially in the younger grades.
This poll is informal and not a scientific study, but it reflects strong parent interest in having a broader conversation about balanced, age-appropriate, and intentional technology use in MTSD classrooms.
Thank you to everyone who has already shared their perspective. The results show that this topic matters to many families in our district.
We are still looking for more parent input. If you have not responded yet, please take a moment to complete the poll and share your view.
Your response helps make the results more representative and supports a broader, more thoughtful conversation about technology use in our schools.
